- WEEK 2 Date of teaching: 19/09/2022 Getting started LESSON 3: A-B-C-D STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Write correctly letters when seeing the pictures; 2. Identify the sounds for letters from A to F from the recording and the given pictures; 3. Say correctly the sounds from the letters B. LANGUAGE FOCUS Phonics Aa - Ff C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES - Student’s book, p.8 - Pictures for activities - CD1, Tracks 8,9 STAGE 2: ASSESSMENT EVIDENCE Performance Assessment tools Performance Tasks products 1. Say correctly the sounds from the letters Observation/correct performance STAGE 3: LEARNING EXPERIENCES/ LEARNING PLAN Activity 1: Warm-up (song) - “ABC song”. Activity 2: Write the letters. Listen and repeat – P.8 - Have students look at the pictures and call out the things they can see. - Demonstrate the activity using the example. - Have students write the letters. - Check answers as a whole class. - Point to the pictures and say the letters' sounds. - Play audio. Have students listen and repeat the letter sounds. Activity 3: Listen and point. – P.8 - Have students look at the pictures. - Demonstrate pointing to the correct letter when you hear the sound or word.
- - Play audio. Have students point to the correct picture at the top of the page when they hear the appropriate sound or word. Activity 4: Put a ( ) or a ( ). - Have students look at the pictures and call out the words. - Demonstrate the activity using the example. - Have students put a tick or a cross. - Check answers as a whole class. Activity 5: Follow the letters and say the sounds. - Have students call out the beginning sounds. - Demonstrate the activity. - Have students solve the maze with their fingers and say the letter sounds as they pass them. - WEEK 2 Date of teaching: 23/09/2022 UNIT 1: FEELINGS LESSON 1: A-B-C STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Identify some feelings from the recording and the given pictures; 2. identify the situations for a conversation between Kim and Bill (setting, participants, topic) and the sentence pattern “How are you? – I’m ”; 3. Perform the song in interesting ways by using appropriate tone and meaningful gestures; 4. Show their positive attitude and care when asking and answering with appropriate intonation, facial expressions and gestures. B. LANGUAGE FOCUS Vocabulary Happy, sad, fine/ok, great Sentence patterns How are you? – I’m (happy) C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES - Student’s book, p.10 - Situational pictures and activity pictures on page 10 - Pictures of feelings - CD1, Tracks 12,13,14 - Song lyrics printed on page 70. STAGE 3: LEARNING EXPERIENCES/ LEARNING PLAN Activity 1: Warm-up (Greeting & song) Song: Hello, how do you do? (Source: Activity 2: Listen and point. Repeat. – P.10 - Use pictures to introduce the feelings. - Have students listen to each new word. - Have students listen to each new word and repeat all together and individually. Correct student’s pronunciation if necessary. - Arrange the flashcards on the board, play audio, and point to each flashcard. - Play audio again and have students point to the pictures in their books. - Play audio again and have students listen and repeat. Activity 3: Listen and point. – P.10 - Show the situational picture and ask the following questions to help them identify the situation. 1. Point the whole picture and ask “where is it?” (in the room) 2. Point to the woman, ask “who is she?” (she is Kim.) 3. Point to the boy, ask “who is he?” (He is Bill.) - Play the recording (Track 12), point to the feelings while listening. (Students watch teacher’s demonstration and listen). - Play the recording again, ask students to look at the picture in their book, listen and point feelings. Activity 4: Sing – P. 70 - Have students turn to page 70. - Play audio and have students listen. - Read the lyrics. - Play audio and have students listen, sing along. Activity 5: Wrap-up & Assignments 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? (Learn about some feelings) 2. What’re the core value of the lesson? (Show positive attitude and care when asking and answering with appropriate intonation, facial expressions and gestures. D.
