- WEEK 21 Date of planning: 5/2/2023 Date of teaching: 6/2/2023 UNIT 12: DON’T RIDE YOUR BIKE TOO FAST! LESSON 1: 1+2+3 (page: 12,13) STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES/ OUTCOMES A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Identify the situation for the conversation among Tom and Mary (setting, participants, topics); 2. Express and respond to concern about possible accidents at home , using the sentence patterns “ Don’t ....! ? OK, I won’t ” 3. Warning some one to not do dangerous actions. B. LANGUAGE FOCUS Vocabulary knife, matches, stairs, stove, arm, leg, climb, run down Key grammatical structure The sentence patterns: Don’t ....! ? OK, I won’t. C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES. - Textbook: Tiếng Anh 5: Student’s book page 12,13 - Track (Unit 12- page 12), - 4 pictures of activities (Activity 2 – page 12) - Situational pictures and character cards - a computer and a projector. STAGE 2: ASSESSMENT EVIDENCE Performance Tasks Performance products Assessment tools 1. Use appropriate attitudes and gestures to express and respond to Student’s interaction and Observation concern about possible accidents at performance Questions& answers home STAGE 3: LEARNING EXPERIENCES/ LEARNING PLAN Warmer: Greeting and watching - Greet the students. Present Unit 12. Point at the title and read it twice for Ss to repeat. Check comprehension and give feedback. Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat - Ask students to look at the four pictures (page 12) and answer questions to identify the situation for the conversation. 1. Who are they? (They are Tom and Mary) 2. Where are they? (in his bedroom, in the kitchen) 3. What are they doing?( talking about accidents in the kitchen.) - Tell students that they are going to listen a conversation among Tom and Mary - Play the recording, ask students to listen and repeat the dialogue - Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking. - Play the recording again for students to listen and repeat. - Elicit the sentence pattern : Don’t ....! ? OK, I won’t” and explain the meaning and the use. Activity 2: full Controlled & less controlled Task 1: Point and say - Use pictures to elicit: knife, matches, stairs, stove, arm, leg, climb, run down - Point to the first picture and model the task with one student, using the expressions in the bubbles and the word under the picture. Teacher: Don’t play with the matches Student: OK, I won’t. - Ask students to say the phrases chorally and individually. Repeat the same procedure with the rest of the pictures. - Ask students to practice in pairs, using the prompts in the bubbles and the pictures. - Call on some pairs to ask ans answer about. Task 2: Let’s talk - Show some pictures about some dangerous actions at home. - Have students express and respond to concern about possible accidents at home, using the sentence patterns “ Don’t ....! ? OK, I won’t.” - Ask them to interview 3 or 4 friends: one student asks the question and the other answers with facts about themselves and then exchange the roles. - Monitor the activity and offer help if necessary. - Call on some groups of students to role-play in front of the class. Activity 3: Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today?

STAGE 3: LEARNING EXPERIENCES/ LEARNING PLAN Warmer: Greeting and playing - The whole class play “slap the board” game. - Lead into the new lesson. Activity 1: listening practice ( Listen and tick) - Tell the class that they are going to listen to the recording and tick the correct pictures. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen. - Play it again for them to do the task. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary - Get them to compare their answers before checking as a class. - Play the recording a third time for them to listen again, if necessary. Key: 1 b 2 c 3 a 4 b Activity 2: Reading practice ( Read and complete) - Tell the class that they are going to read the text and fill the gaps with the words in the box. - Give them a few seconds to read the text and the words in the box. Remind them to focus on the context to select the appropriate words. Give the meaning of hearing him running down.
- - Set a time limit for them to do the task independently. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. - Get them to compare their answers in pairs before checking as a class. If there is enough time, have the class read the completed text aloud. Key: 1. Check their comprehension. - Play the recording all the way through for them to listen and follow in their books. Play it again for them to repeat line by line. When Ss are familiar with the melody, ask them to sing along with the music before having them practice doing actions - Invite a group to sing the song and do actions in front of the class Activity 4: Wrap -up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1.What have you learnt from the lesson today? (Read, listen, and complete, showing the correct words filling the gapped paragraph). 2. What’re the core values of the lesson? (Studious and obedient students and love their friends.). - Prepare for the next lesson. (Unit 12: Lesson 2 P 1,2,3). D. Because he/ she may ....... ..” - Ask them to work in pairs. - Monitor the activity and offer help if necessary. - Call on some pairs to role -play in front of the class. Activity 3: Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today?

Activity 1: listening practice ( Listen and complete) - Tell the class that they are going to listen and complete each sentence with one word. - Ask them to read the sentences and try to guess the word to fill each gap. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen. - Play it again for them to do the task. - Get them to compare their answers before checking as a class. - Play the recording a third time for them to listen again, if necessary. Tell them that the aim of the game is to review vocabulary on accident prevention. - Explain how to play the game: ask pupils to work in groups of five. One pupil is the leader and each of the other four holds a word card with part of a sentence, such as: Don’t/play with matches/ride too fast/run down the stairs/You may/get a burn/fall off your bike/break your leg. - The leader says aloud two sentences and the other four have to stand in a line, holding the word cards to make the two sentences. For example, Don’t play with matches. You may get a burn. - Set a time limit for the groups to play the game. Monitor the activity. - Call on two groups to play the game in front of the class. Remember to praise pupils who do well. Activity 4: Wrap -up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? ( listen complete and showing the completed paragraph). 2. What’re the core values of the lesson? (Studious and obedient students and love their friends.). - Prepare for the next lesson.
